Common Arabic Words Used in Islam
Jannah - Heaven
Muslim - A person who follows the religion of Islam
Halaal - Arabic term meaning “permissible”. In the English Language it most frequently refers to food that is permissible according to Islamic Law.
Haraam - Arabic term for "forbidden".
Naar - Fire but generally used to mean "Hell"
Ukht / Ukhti - Sister / My sister
Akh / Akhi - Brother / My brother
Nabi - Prophet
Rasool - Messenger
Kitab - Book
Salaah / Salaat - Prayer
Sawm - Fast/ing
Surah - Chapter (from the Qur'an)
Ayah / Ayat - Verse (from the Qur'an)
Mala'ikah - Angels
Shaytan - Devil
Wudhoo' - The act of washing or cleansing before praying.
Iftaar - Breaking of the fast
Sunnah - Prophet Muhammad's (May peace and blessings be upon him) traditions.

It refers to the rejecters of faith, non-believer, non-Muslim.

Da'ee - refers to male caller/inviter to Islam
Da'eeyah - refers to female caller/inviter to Islam
Ahlul-Kitaab - People of the book such as Christians and Jews.
Shirk - Polytheism; associating partners with God/Allaah; Idolatry
Mushrik (sing.) Mushrikeen (plural) - One who commits "Shirk"
Tawheed - the concept of Monotheism in Islam.
Bid'ah - Innovation in religion; New teachings or actions brought to Islam which has no basis in the Qur'aan or Sunnah.
Da'eef - weak; usually refers to a "Hadeeth".
